Submission guidelines
While I’m not a literary agent, I do require some of the same submission basics. The reason for this is that having these extras means 1) you’re professional prepared and ready for the next step which tells me that you’re open and accepting of objective comments, and 2) it makes the reading comprehensive, and faster, and anything that helps to speed up the editing process is good for everyone.

- Include the title, genre and topic, general intro, and estimated word count
- A blurb draft (what you’d see on the back cover)* Why do I need this?
- Again, it comes down to writer preparedness. You’re paying for my time as much as by word, so it makes sense to let the editor get to editing without taking time on non-editing things. As an editor, I’m a reader first. Like anyone buying a book, I like reading the back cover blurbs. When editing a book, it’s the very same. It helps me assess how your book presents itself.
- A mini bio of you, the author
- Yes, I’d love to know more about you and what has supported you toward writing this book. Your publishing direction may by traditional, in which case this is often requested by major publishers. And if you’re planning on self-publishing, you’ll need a bio to work from for your various profiles used in marketing such as in social media profiles.
- And remember, text only. Do NOT include artwork, illustrations, or graphics of any kind. I can’t edit those and they slow down my editing process, specifically my computer.
- Text should be in a 12-point font in something easy to read such as Times Roman or Garamond. My eyes say thank you.
- Please submit your full-length manuscript unless a special service you’ve purchased requires less.
- Please include your main concern with the book and/or what you’d like me to focus on and I’ll address those in evaluative comments.
