Evaluations include Beta Reading The term 'beta reader' has been adapted from 'beta tester', familiar to those in the computer industry. There are many, but many similar, definitions of a beta reader. Here's Rachel's: a beta reader is a person who loves to read and who understands the genre of the work submitted, who reads a manuscript with a critical eye for the purpose of evaluation of the work prior to publication. Generally, a beta read with a critical analysis, or evaluation, offers perspective through honest and objective review. Rachel takes the whole narrative approach, and the writer receives helpful comments with specific examples highlighted.
